Restricted Doomsday Syndrome Chapter 18: Black and white

At around one o'clock noon, Fu Jiang and I stopped our work by appointment. The lunch was divided into the last bowl of cup noodles and a few pieces of chocolate. After the meal, I smoked cigarettes and packed the things I found useful into my homemade backpack, and lined up all the weapons and two sets of protective clothing on the ground.

No one spoke, just sitting on the ground facing these appliances and smoking cigarettes, the smoke that was spit out quietly filled the bright sunshine. In the face of this silence, I am not sure whether the decision to explore the air-raid shelter is correct, but if I don't do it, I can only stay in this building.

I’m a top student, and I’m the kind of person who is accustomed to calculating the pros and cons before taking action, and Fu Jiang seems to be a person who is driven by emotions and intuition. Taking the initiative to attack is the result of my repeated calculations. Fu Jiang did not oppose this decision. Is it because she intuitively feels that way, or is it accommodating to me?

It is of course a lie to say that I don't care about my life or death at all, but if it is my own decision, I really won't be entangled with my ending. Decisions determine life, this is the truth of life that I have summed up in the past 17 years.

But once the decision involves a companion, the decision itself has begun to deteriorate.

I have read many books and wandered through the dilemma created by humans countless times. In the logical ending, there is no happy ending. Therefore, after experiencing the baptism of many imaginations, I decided to live only for myself, and let the choice of life or death be limited to myself.

However, at this moment, I feel the weight of a person’s life. It is not illusory, nor is it limited to the self. Every word and every action we make has an irreparable impact on each other every second.

If at some point in the future, Fujiang died, because of my interference, he would die during the exploration of the air-raid shelter. If she stayed and guarded herself sleepily with me, she might be able to survive. Such thoughts poured into my mind in a ferocious posture in silence, making me laugh at my sentimentality.

This is the first time I worry about my choice.

I sat awkwardly on the ground, my palms interlaced, my thumbs pressed together tightly, trying to bury my head in my arms like a quail. At this moment, Fu Jiang put out his cigarette **** on the ground and stood up. There was no worry on her face, and her natural attitude seemed the same as usual.

   "Let's get started," she said.

"Hmm... um." I answered vaguely, stood up, paused, and said, "Actually, I can just go by myself."

Fujiang glanced at me in surprise, and picked up the protective clothing in front of him.

"Do you want to eat alone? No way."

"This way..." I muttered, and picked up the protective suit: "Go inside the air-raid shelter, is this your decision?"

"Of course." She answered without hesitation.

   "Maybe to die."

She cast a microsecond glance, light and fluttering, but it made me feel a certain kind of oppression, and she couldn’t help but explain: "I mean, if it wasn’t because I was going down, you would go down..."

She interrupted me immediately, almost laughing.

"You are not a man at all."

"Yes..." I can only smile wryly: "I...I'm just not used to it."

   "This is good."

   "What?"

"A good boss always thinks about his subordinates."

   "I am not the boss."

"You are a member of the student union, aren't you?" Tomoe's words left me speechless: "The student union cadre is the head of the student."

"That, that's not the same, after all, the work of the Student Union will not kill people."

   "I will now."

Tomie’s tone was blunt and there was no room for tact, but he was not angry. I think she is motivating me. This may be the difference between adults and children, and it is different from what I think is mature.

I didn't know anything, so I just nodded and smiled, a little stiff, but my mood suddenly improved a lot. Maybe to become a real man, courage and temperament need to go through similar tests. Maybe it's early, but I can't never grow up, or think I'll grow up forever.

I don't want to be a man who has no responsibility, I have to survive at this time.

I will exchange the greystone bag.

"I have four and you have five." I emphasized.

Fujie stared at me for a while, shook his head with a grin, no objection.

"Did you know? I am a master of psychology." She just said so.

Tomie and I put on protective clothing, covering everything from the soles of the feet to the necks as thick as winter clothes, but they have not yet reached the point where it is difficult to move. Wrists, ankles, and waist are **** with bandages, and then a helmet made of iron pan is worn, swimming goggles are buckled on the forehead, and the mask is hung on the neck. Fearing that it was not safe enough, I put a poncho-like plastic film on the outside. The temperature was not low this day, and the airtight dress quickly made us sweat.

Tomie inserted three javelins between his back and his backpack, a flashlight tied to his shoulders, a bundle of ropes tied to his waist and a throwing line with heavy objects tied to both ends. A fire axe in one hand and a portable flamethrower modified with a gas stove in the other.

I also have similar equipment, except that the tossing is replaced by a kitchen knife with a long handle. I hold a crossbow with a good arrow in my hand, and I have an extra quiver on my back. Most of the arrows are ordinary arrows, and five are embedded with sharp-edged knives, and two have the arrows replaced by hooks, in case of a special situation that needs to be climbed.

stopped at the entrance of the air-raid shelter, I took a deep breath, and when I turned my head to look at Fujiang, she was also casting her gaze, her eyes full of unshakable colors. So I pulled down my goggles and put on a mask. Fu Jiang has already stepped along the steps into the darkness below.

The first step is stopped at a depth of about five meters, and it is divided into left and right forks. Fu Jiang went straight to the left without stopping, the light was blocked at the corners, and it became darker as it went deeper, and the coolness slapped the facial skin exposed to the air.

Fu Jiang and I turned on the flashlights, and the distance that the cone-shaped beam could illuminate gradually shortened, and finally fixed at ten meters. Beyond this distance, everything is shrouded in a terrifying haze.

A large number of particles wandered in the beam. Black and white world.

There is a lamp socket on the top of the wall, but there is no light bulb. Green-green moss crawled on the walls. The air was muddy and filled with a scent that felt dirty when you smell it. They came from the stains on the wall joints, from the black solids resembling animal feces. Many places were cracked due to excavation and disrepair. People evacuated this place completely before it was abandoned.

Occasionally, some small sounds can be heard, and the shadow swishes past the front or feet, and it will be frightening inadvertently. They are all creatures that are good at survival in the dirty and dark environment. The damp and harsh environment that humans hate is like heaven to them. They feed on their companions who also live in this type of environment, or drag food obtained from the outside into such darkness, and allow them to slowly rot before and after eating.

The structure inside the cave is composed of corridors of different sizes, stairs with seven turns, rooms of different sizes, and empty halls, extending to a depth of several tens of meters underground, like a huge maze. I can be sure that there is no longer the courtyard above my head.

This complicated situation has long been expected. My crossbow has been put away, replaced by paper and pen. Every time I pass a corner, I make a mark on the wall and draw a map on the diary. We didn't go fast, and we searched every corner carefully, hoping to find out what was different. No one should have been here before, and we did not find any humanoid creatures or corpses.

We are safe for the time being.

After reaching the end for the first time, we returned to the nearest corner and headed in the direction we hadn’t walked. In this silent and dark world, time became a vague concept. I just followed Fu Jiang, and soon after, she took me to a place that seemed to be a granary. The wall above the doorway is engraved with vague handwriting, and it is no longer possible to distinguish ~IndoMTL.com~ Some seeds have been found in the warehouse.

"It wasn't even eaten?" I was a little surprised.

"Maybe they can't get in." Fu Jiang took off the flashlight and swept it across the walls and corners. This place is completely sealed and even spider webs are very rare.

   "The door is not locked."

"It doesn’t look like it has been opened from the dust and the door shaft."

I stepped forward and picked up the seeds. These seeds are purple-red, the size of the rice grains, it is not clear which crop they come from. Ask Fu Jiang, she also doesn't know. In short, it is not wheat and rice.

While thinking about it, I looked along the wall in front to the ceiling. I don’t know why, but I always feel that the lamp holder at the height of two meters is a bit weird.

"Achuan, here." Fu Jiang called me from behind.

I followed, and she stood in front of another lamp holder and looked at it.

"I'll go up and have a look, are you racking me?" she asked.

I shrugged and squatted down, letting Fu Jiang straddle my shoulders like a horse. Her body was leaning forward, and my head had to be lowered, so I couldn't see what she was playing with. When she came down, she held a wooden thorn in her hand with white silk thread wrapped around it.

"What do you think it is?" she asked.

  "Spider web?"

"I don't think so." She said surely.

But when she asked what it was, she couldn't say it herself, and she cared about another thing.

"These lines extend in from the opposite side of the wall."

   "A crack on the wall?"

"That's right." She said, "It's also very flat, as if it were artificially made."

I think that I feel that there is something wrong with the lamp holder, perhaps for the same reason.

"What's the opposite of the wall?"

   "Just go and see."
