3. The hometown of the corpse

The world-famous Hoh Xil area lacks water and grass due to high cold and hypoxia. Forced by the environment, the herdsmen living in this area can only wander around and live in pursuit of water and grass. They move every two days and are nomadic all year round. state. The people there did not have a stable settlement during their lifetime, nor a fixed sky burial platform after their death. At the same time, there are no temples or monks in these areas, let alone complicated funeral ceremonies. People generally practice wild burials and abandoned burials. Wild burial means that after a person dies, his body is stripped and thrown in the wild, wherever he died and where he was thrown. Abandoned burial means that after a person dies, the living family members move away and abandon the deceased on the old site. When this burial method is used, the deceased is usually undressed and covered with whatever clothes he was wearing during his lifetime intact, making it look like a living person sleeping.

This kind of burial custom of nomadic tribes is more likely to cause the corpse to be raised. Although they could not build a low door to resist the rising of corpses, people also took some corresponding measures when they had no other choice. For example, when a corpse, especially a corpse that shows signs of being raised, is thrown into the wild, tie a rope to a natural stone pile or large boulder to prevent the corpse from running away and harming others. Despite this, it is inevitable that corpses will often occur. People often encounter corpses. Example 1: Wen Zhaduo, Sima Township, Anduo County (this man was a bandit in the past). One year, he rode a horse and hung a knife to the Nacang tribe in the northwest of Naqu (now under the jurisdiction of Nyima County) to steal horses. After he grabbed a good horse, he hurriedly set off on his return journey. One evening after running for several days and nights, I dismounted my horse in an empty and deserted place, tied the two horses to a small stake with Duore (the shepherd language of northern Tibet, meaning a long rope for tying horses), and I Sitting cross-legged by the pile and lighting a fire to make tea (this is the habit of all bandits), I wanted to let the horses eat some grass under the cover of night and fill their hungry stomachs. Unexpectedly, the two hungry horses unexpectedly stopped. He was eating grass, looking behind him in horror, roaring from his nostrils. Zha Duo looked back in confusion. Only a few steps away from him, stood a naked zombie, staring at him like a beast about to pounce. There was also a wool rope tied to his left leg, which was tied to Where, I didn’t see it at all, maybe because I was extremely nervous at the time. He jumped on his horse desperately and ran away. Under the dim moonlight, he could clearly see that Qi Zhi had caught up with him. About five kilometers away, there is a small hill, and about ten families of herders live at the foot of the mountain. As a robber, Zado naturally could not be discovered, so he went around the mountain and hid at the top of the mountain, his heart still beating wildly. About a quarter of an hour later, he heard people shouting and barking in the village at the foot of the mountain. He knew in his heart that a body had been brought into the village. He mounted his horse and fled back to his hometown as fast as he could. Those tent villages with no shelter or low doors were attacked by corpses. The outcome can be imagined!

Example 2: Babu, the head of Sewu Township in Anduo County, was on his way to the Nacang tribe to steal horses. He came across an old site abandoned by herdsmen. The windshield wall more than one meter high around the tent was intact. At a glance, one can tell that the household has just moved. He wanted to go in and take shelter from the wind. As soon as he took a step forward, he found a brand new seven-color lace sheepskin robe in the southeast corner of the earth and stone fence. The person lying in the robe was clearly a woman. When he took a closer look, the head of the female corpse had been raised and she was looking at him with her eyes open. Needless to say, she was an abandoned corpse. Fortunately, he was discovered in time and avoided disaster.

Example 3: There was a herdsman named Wuerba from the Nagqu Laiwo tribe (under the jurisdiction of today's Nyima County). After his death, when his body was sent for wild burial in the afternoon, a crow came down to eat. After just a few pecks, the zombie suddenly got up, grabbed the crow with one hand and ran away, leaving a saying in the tribe that "Wurba's corpse catches the bird".

Example 4: There is a herdsman named Malta in Sima Township under the jurisdiction of Anduo County. His female slave lives at the foot of Garb Mountain. Because she is poor, she does not even have a name. People call her the place where she lives. The mountain named her Granny Garb.

One day in the early spring of 1967, Mrs. Garb finally ended her miserable life and lay quietly in the tattered tent that could only accommodate herself. Although this place is in the heart of the county and unlike remote areas, she can be sent on her way to the destination of life by the clear ringing of the Dharma bell, but because she is single, she cannot enjoy the treatment she deserves at the end of her life. Dalluo, a senior monk from the Andoma Temple and the sky burial master of the headquarters, went to chant sutras for her out of pity and sent her to a sky burial.

They came to her side. Half of the poor old lady’s face was exposed outside her collar, her eyes were closed tightly, and her dry mouth was half open. Her skinny body occupied all the space in the tent. She had no choice but to chant sutras and the sky burial master. Borrow a corner of the pastor's house to chant scriptures. While chanting sutras, the eminent monk uneasily asked the sky burial master to go over and take a look at the old lady's body. When the funeral director went over to take a look, he found that the old lady's head was completely exposed outside her collar. When he looked for the second time, the old lady had opened her eyes and was sitting up sideways. Her skin was darkened, and the blood vessels on both sides of her nose were swollen to the thickness of a finger. He quickly told the monk about this situation. The eminent monk immediately blew the human bone trumpet and used tantric magic to break the blood. After a while, he saw blood flowing from her nostrils, and then she fell down and regained her original calm. It can be seen that she belongs to the "bloody" category. I don’t know why? When they carried the old lady's body on horseback to the sky burial platform, they found that her body was heavier than any other corpse. It was so heavy that the strong horse fell down several times on the road. This is what Sky Burial Master Darlo saw with his own eyes and what he said personally.
