Almighty Game Designer Chapter 308: COG test

Under the frenzied urging of the emperor's mutual entertainment, COG's test date was advanced again, to February 13th.

The relevant person in charge of GA said that this is already a very risky decision, because the current COG is not perfect, at least in the eyes of designer Raman Clive, the early closed beta time is a very stupid decision. .

What is the point of testing a week earlier?

Raman Clive and GA very much want to reject the proposal of Emperor Muyu, because they feel that a Chinese company's competing game is no harm than they will be online for a week or two in the morning.

COG has to face the global market. As for the "League of Legends" launched by the Huaxia company? Probably, at most, it would be noisy on the one-third of acre in China.

But Dichao Interactive Entertainment's attitude is very firm, and GA can't completely ignore the huge market of China, so the test date was eventually advanced.

The slightly embarrassing time is set on February 13th because Chen Mo has already let out the news, and there will be special Valentine's Day activities on Valentine's Day on February 14th and the week after.

Including the launch of Valentine's Day limited skins, limited couple portrait frames and special game tasks, etc.

Obviously, Dichao Mutual Entertainment does not want to crash with "League of Legends" at this critical node. After all, the Valentine's Day event of "League of Legends" is well prepared. Once, and COG... it doesn't matter if you play two days later.

If it is tested on February 14th, the relevant data will most likely be squeezed to be very ugly.

Lin Chaoxu's keen intuition told him that Chen Mo came prepared, and if he could not think of any solutions, the situation would become very bad.

Everything depends on the feedback from players after the launch of COG.

……

On February 13, COG (Chinese name "Clash of the Gods") started its internal beta. Dichao Mutual Entertainment used various channels to promote and warm up, and even used some channel resources from the fantasy game platform.

Although the success of COG is not certain, the smooth promotion of "League of Legends" has made Lin Chaoxu more confident in this new game mode, so he has invested a lot in a game under test. Channel resources.

Although many of the original players of COG are hard-core fans of Chen Mo, after all, COG is also their favorite game type, so many people still choose to play.

Furthermore, under the promotion of Dichao Mutual Entertainment, many other players have also poured in, and a large part of them have played "League of Legends".

After all, the games that went online a year ago are the only two that are more popular and topical, and you can’t avoid them.

The test version of COG is in the same line as the map of Warcraft in terms of core gameplay, numerical system, hero skills, etc. There is basically no major change.

Because in Raman Clive’s opinion, some of the original designs of COG are relatively perfect, especially among the core player groups. COG’s art style and operation mode are what they like this game. Some key elements, rashly changing means giving up these core players, which is very uneconomical.

The main difference between the internal beta version and the original map is the packaging and derivative gameplay.

COG did not obtain the copyright of the relevant heroes, so all the models could only be redone, and the names were fine-tuned accordingly to avoid legal risks.

After all, GA is a big company and is afraid of being misused.

For example, the death knight was renamed the dark knight, the dark ranger was renamed the shadow ranger, the guardian of the jungle was renamed the elf prophet, and so on.

There are also Paladins, who just changed the model without changing the name, because the Paladin itself is a classic profession in Western Fantasy, and there is no copyright.

This kind of change seems to have some copycats to the old players of COG, but it is not important, because in Raman Clive’s view, this game is not limited to those who have played "Warcraft" Players, the main player will not feel the sense of violation of these models.

After all, it's a European and American company. GA's artists are very handy for Western fantasy themes. The scenes and hero models are very original, so this sense of copycat is not particularly strong.

In terms of map elements and hero skills, there are some minor adjustments, but no major changes.

In addition, there are some derivative gameplay and profit models.

Similar to "League of Legends", COG has also built a friend system, a matching system, a mall system and so on. In terms of profit model, COG is also free for all heroes and charged for skins, but there are two contents that are different from "League of Legends": card charges and unboxing.

COG has created a unique set of card modes, which is a bit equivalent to an additional skill enhancement system. Each hero can wear a deck (containing 4 cards) to enhance the hero's four skills.

For example, the Dark Arrow of the Dark Ranger is additional damage, and the replenishment will summon a small skeleton. For the Dark Arrow, there are 3 different cards available for use, which are to increase damage, increase the blood volume of the small skeleton, and increase the duration of the small skeleton. Players can choose one of them to join their own deck.

According to Raman Clive’s idea, this card model is equivalent to increasing the diversification of gameplay, allowing players to freely match their favorite decks, of course, also to increase profitability.

GA company does not approve the model of relying solely on skins for profit. After all, this model is too risky. Whether players buy skins is completely uncontrollable and cannot guarantee the revenue of this game.

Unless COG can spread all over the world, but in GA's view, this idea is a little unrealistic.

GA’s proposal is to either set a buyout threshold or increase a fee system linked to attributes~IndoMTL.com~Raman Clive chose the latter after repeated consideration, because he felt that it was a little bit compared to It’s unfair, and the threshold of buyout fees may make him lose more players.

As for the way to obtain cards and skins, it is very "Europeanized": out of the box.

Different from the unboxing of "League of Legends", everything in COG is obtained by unboxing and cannot be purchased directly.

Players can get gold coins through the game, and recharge can get game coins. These two currencies will open different chests. The gold coin chest is mainly for different cards and card fragments, while the game coin chest is mainly for skins and cards.

Of course, the speed at which players can obtain gold coins is strictly controlled, and more and more gold coins are needed to open the box every week. In the early stage, it is definitely impossible for players to obtain all the card sets through the gold coin treasure chest. If you want to build a relatively complete set of cards, you must recharge.

Moreover, after recharging, you have to look at what you open out of the box. It is possible to open cards of heroes that you don't know how to play.

However, the out-of-the-box mode is still quite popular in the European and American markets, and there are some successful games in this regard, so neither GA nor Raman Clive thinks this is wrong.
