Battle of the Third Reich Chapter 203: Encounter (Part 1)

"Eleven...Twelve..." The water drop slowly slides down the round handle of the sea water valve, and then drops on the orange transparent celluloid plate below.

"Thirteen...fourteen..." Corporal Udell sat on the fence of the aisle, looking up at the valve diagonally above.

"Fifteen..." Udel lowered his head and stuffed a piece of mint into his mouth.

The combat lights dye everything in the power cabin bright red, except for a few green lights on the dashboard. The waterproof door leading to the tail torpedo compartment was locked, and Senior Soldier Bruno sat on the doorstep, playing with his fingers boringly.

"Ten..." Udel realized that he might have missed a few drops of water just now, so he decided to abandon the game.

"Clang..." There was a melodious knocking sound from outside the bulkhead, which sounded like a wrench hitting an empty crock pot.

"Damn it!" Udet jumped up and turned his head to look at the bulkhead.

"Clang..." is another note.

"He found us, he found us again." Bruno shouted loudly.

"Udel, shut up that idiot and keep quiet." Chief Engineer Zehe, holding the receiver of the phone in the cabin, shouted loudly.

"Yes, captain, we are on standby." Zehe made two gestures, and the sailors hurriedly took their positions.

"Is there no other way? I see, depending on what you said, how is this possible? He still owes me two bottles of rum." Zehe laughed, and then hung up the cabin telephone.

"The electric motors start, and the two cars are one-third speed." Zehe looked at the pointer on the ship's clock and gave the start command.

Udel stood in front of the electric motor console on the starboard side of the submarine, pulling down the control lever with both hands. A gentle humming sounded, and the two Siemens GU354 motors began to rotate. The huge power drives the propeller shaft through the gearbox. The hull of the boat shook slightly, and then began to move forward slowly.

"Raise immediately to the depth of the periscope." Captain Hank Robin issued an ascent command to the captain.

"It's sir, ascend to the depth of the periscope." The captain repeated the order.

The submersible operator successively opened the valves of the main ballast tanks. The sound of high-pressure gas gushing sounded from outside the hull and under the floor. A large amount of high-pressure gas was rapidly pumped into the ballast tanks throughout the hull. The sea water was squeezed out of the cabin, and the buoyancy of the submarine increased rapidly.

Because the size of the compartment and the drainage speed are different, the hull gradually tilts to starboard side. This is a normal phenomenon. After adjusting the water discharge of several balance cabins, the hull quickly returned to its level. Under the command of the captain, the angle of the balance rudder at the bow and tail was adjusted, the bow was raised five degrees, the electric motor started to run at full speed, and the U106 floated toward the sea at a speed of five meters per second.

"Captain, found the target, ninety degrees." The sonar operator poked his head from behind the curtain of the radio room.

"It's U1001. I heard the sound of the ballast tank blowing off, and she is also preparing to float."

"I see, continue monitoring." Robin ordered.

"Yes, captain." The operator retracted into the telecom room.

"Are the data for this training organized?" Captain Robin walked to the chart table and asked Deputy Captain Igor.

"It's all here." Igor patted the voyage record in his hands.

"After returning this time, I am ready to take a vacation." Robin turned around and leaned on the chart table.

"Why, I was hit with confidence?" The first officer took the compass and gestured on the chart.

"How is it possible, I just feel a little tired." Robin took off his military cap and scratched his head.

This is the seventh day of U106’s voyage. With the paper data of this ocean-going submarine, this time is not a big deal, but in these seven days, U106 and U1001 conducted three consecutive high-intensity sessions. Confrontation training, whether it is personnel or machinery, is already close to the limit.

"Where are you going on vacation? Would you like me to be with you." Igor threw the compass on the map table.

"It hasn't been decided yet. I want to go to China to have a look." Robin put on his soft combat hat and touched the stubble on his chin.

"China? I am also very interested, especially after the last time Captain Wang introduced his hometown. He also invited me to visit his home freely. What is the name of that place? I remember him I have written it down, I need to check my notebook." Igor walked to the control tower ladder.

"I don't know how the king and his men are now?" Robin stretched out his hand and put up the escalator.

"I heard that they were assigned to the U63 internship." Igor replied.

"Type VII?"

"Type VII." Igor nodded vigorously.

"Well, that suits them well." Robin shrugged, then turned to the captain and shouted, "Raise the periscope."

"Yes, raise the periscope." The captain pressed the lift button.

"Attention! High-speed propeller! One hundred and seventy-five degrees." Suddenly there was a sonar soldier's alarm.

"I didn't hear anything just now, she seemed to appear suddenly, Captain." The operator yelled.

The periscope rose into position, and Robin quickly took hold of the grip and turned to the direction reported by the sonar operator.

"I found out...that was..." Robin had a weird expression on his face, and he turned to look at the nervous first mate.

"That is a submarine."

"Is it ours?" Igor relaxed.

"No, that is a submarine of the Japanese Navy."

"What? Let me see." The deputy captain walked to the periscope.

"Let me check it." Robin walked to the chart table and pulled out the ship identification manual from the file cabinet hung on the bulkhead~IndoMTL.com~ stopped floating, she seemed to be turning. "The sonar operator reports.

"Heynke must have discovered this Japanese submarine too. With U1001 technology, it may be earlier than we discovered." Igor said.

"I found it, this is it. The Haida IIIb ocean-going submarine, with a total length of 101 meters and an underwater displacement of 2,300 tons, is really a big guy." Robin opened the identification manual to the sea. Picture a shot on the table.

"This is the first time we encountered a Japanese submarine at sea. What are you going to do?" Igor asked.

"Float." Robin buttoned the tropical shirt.

"What?" The deputy captain did not hear clearly.

"Let's float to the surface." Robin straightened his soft combat hat and looked at a small mirror hung on the file cabinet.

"Go and say hello to our Japanese counterparts. This is the courtesy of the German Navy." The captain bared his teeth in the mirror and smiled, then nodded in satisfaction.

"Float to the surface." Igor shook his head and gave the order to ascend.

"Empty the water tank." "The elevation angle of the bow balance rudder is 15 degrees."

"Attention, don't move too hard." "Two cars at full speed!"

"Two cars at full speed, sir."

"Ready to get out of the water!" the captain yelled.

Two seconds later, U106 leaped fiercely out of the water like a steel shark. The sharp bow of the boat stopped in the air, and then slammed back to the sea, snow-white waves scattered in all directions, and water mist under the bright sun. Soaring into the air, above the dark green command tower, a brilliant rainbow suddenly appeared.
