Hogwarts Outsider Chapter 33: Professor Kettleburn
At a quarter past four on Saturday morning, Matthew Wakefield rose from bed.
He donned a long-sleeved wizard robe and his dragonhide gloves before leaving the empty Slytherin common room.
At this point, there was no one in the corridors of Hogwarts, and even the people on the portraits were soundly asleep there.
The riding boots stepped on the marble floor, and the echo from them was slightly permeating in the early hours of the morning.
Just as Matthew was about to walk out of the oak gate of Hogwarts Castle, he suddenly froze and stopped.
Because a big yellow dog with its tongue sticking out was half lying on the gate of the castle gate.
"Oops!" Matthew thought secretly in his heart.
If Mr. Tang thinks that he is the kind of student who violates school rules by "night tour", stop himself and wait for Mr. Pringle to come over...
Mr. Pringle couldn't be **** himself, despite his legitimate reasons. But as long as you spend a little time here, you will be late when you report to Professor Kettleburn.
Matthew looked at his watch. It was only about ten minutes before half past four.
Bite the bullet, and walked past Mr. Tang... But fortunately, this golden retriever, who is usually sensitive, seems to have not fully woken up today.
It was almost unaware when Matthew walked past it.
Matthew breathed a sigh of relief, pushed open the oak door that had been opened a crack, and took a breath of fresh air outside the castle.
……
Matthew left the castle and walked across the grounds towards the Forbidden Forest.
The sky was still bright and a bit gloomy, but luckily Matthew had put on enough thick clothes.
The night is about to disappear, and the surroundings are quiet, everything is still, and the morning light is just emerging.
He soon came to the edge of the Forbidden Forest. In the dark jungle, there was a burst of chaotic shouts. Then a group of crows sprang out, and they croaked and flew past Matthew, as if they sensed something ominous.
Soon, Matthew found a cabin around.
On the door of the wooden house, there was a line of "Sivanos Kettleburn" written crookedly.
This is also the current residence of Hogwarts' Professor of Care of Magical Beasts, Hunting Grounds Keeper and Key Keeper.
According to the original book, this room should belong to Rubeus Hagrid.
It's just that the kind-hearted half-blood giant is no longer in this castle.
Where should he go?
As a staunch supporter of Albus Dumbledore, he may have been killed fifty years ago, just like Neville's grandmother: Mrs. Augusta Longbottom.
While thinking wildly, Matthew knocked lightly on the door.
Only a "squeak" was heard, and the door of the cabin opened by itself.
A black shadow sprang forward, almost startling Matthew.
The black shadow seemed to touch Matthew's left wrist, and then he found that the watch on his wrist disappeared in an instant.
"Don't be a thief!" Professor Kettleburn's angry voice sounded from the cabin.
Then, the black shadow slowly returned to Matthew, and Matthew was able to see its true face——
A strange creature covered in black fur with a long snout.
"Return to the original owner!" Professor Kettleburn roared again.
This little black thing reluctantly took out a watch from under its fur and handed it back to Matthew.
It was the watch that Matthew had been wearing on his wrist before.
When Matthew retrieved the watch, Professor Kettleburn's voice sounded again: "This is a sniff, like shiny things, I've tried my best to train it not to be a thief, but the result seems a little Unsatisfactory..."
"...well, what's your name, kid?" His voice gradually became serious.
"Professor Matthew Wakefield." Matthew replied, and at the same time he looked at Professor Kettleburn who was still lying on the bed.
To be honest, the current appearance of this professor of protection of magical animals is a little hideous——
His three prosthetic limbs were quietly placed on the head of the bed, and he was lying on the bed. At present, he looked like a "human pig"... the only surviving left hand held a magic wand.
"Slytherin's boy group, are you alone?" Professor Kettleburn asked while directing the prosthetic limbs to automatically install on himself with a wand.
"It's such a professor, Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, all of them were unable to participate in this after-school practice due to an accident..." Matthew began to explain for several of his roommates.
Professor Kettleburn was obviously aware of the attack, he nodded, and after the prosthesis was installed, he began to put on his clothes again.
Taking advantage of this time, Matthew began to look around the cabin:
On the ceiling, there are countless hams and pheasants hanging; a flame is burning in the fireplace, and an iron pot full of things is burning; Eggs of different sizes...
There are many other weird things, maybe wizards who love magical animals all have this virtue?
……
"I don't think you have had breakfast~IndoMTL.com~Wakefield?" Professor Kettleburn, who was dressed, asked.
"Yes." Matthew nodded. The opening time of the auditorium was 6:30 in the morning, but now it is only 4:30.
"Then eat some rock cakes with me!" Professor Kettleburn said enthusiastically, "Sit first!"
Matthew sat obediently at a round table, and on the table was an exquisite teapot... When Matthew was looking at it carefully, the teapot suddenly shook violently, which shocked Matthew. Jump.
At the same time, a plate of small hard cakes with raisins in them flew in front of Matthew.
Is this the legendary Hogwarts' dark delicacy "rock cake", it looks a bit like a cut cake.
Matthew tasted a little bit, and it was crunchy, but the taste was actually not bad, and it wasn't as crunchy as the legend said.
Sure enough, it was Hagrid who had the problem, not Rock Pie.
"What are our after-school practice contents today, Professor?" While eating breakfast, Matthew asked curiously.
"A nest of blood-sucking monsters appeared in the Forbidden Forest, and many poor animals were killed by them." Professor Kettleburn had a pile of rock cakes stuffed into his mouth, and his words were a little unclear "I finally got Professor Rozier's permission to find out their old nests; you can just be my assistant."
Looking at Matthew's slightly discolored face, Professor Kettleburn continued, "Don't worry, I'm almost as familiar with the Forbidden Forest as I am with my wife...you won't have any trouble with me. Dangerous."
"Of course, this is just an example." He added:
"Because I don't have a wife!"
