Hogwarts Outsider Chapter 70: Experiment
Christmas is supposed to be a day of celebration.
The wizards of ancient Rome believed that this day was the hope of spring and the beginning of the recovery of all things.
But for Matthew Wakefield, he is not in any mood to celebrate today.
Forget about going to breakfast, he returned to the Slytherin common room again.
Facing the blazing emerald green flames in the fireplace, Matthew tremblingly took the book out of his pocket and put it on a round table in the common room.
……
What happened just now undoubtedly violated Matthew's previous cognition.
He originally thought that this book was a powerful black magic item, and it frequently appeared by his side just to take his life.
So for the past four months, he has been avoiding this book as much as possible.
And the group of Draco Malfoy who were sent to the school hospital earlier also further verified his judgment.
Until today, he suddenly realized that his previous judgment was completely wrong...
Mr. Pringle found this book by his office, then took it all the way to find himself, and slapped himself on the head with this book...
If this book behaves the same as it did when it faced Draco Malfoy before, it can completely let itself and Mr. Pringle die on the spot together!
However, it did not do so, at least Matthew is still alive and well.
So, why...
Matthew lowered his head and stared at the book.
The cover and back cover made of leather seem to have changed a little compared to the first time Matthew saw it... The original weird color has become a little lighter.
Probably because of this, when Mr. Pringle found it next to the office just now, he didn't feel anything unusual.
At the same time, on the cover of the book, two lines of green characters were crookedly written:
"Matthew Wakefield."
"Slytherin Year One."
No wonder Mr. Pringle was able to find himself...
Matthew blinked, he decided to do a little experiment!
Back in the dormitory, he took out his little pet, the black-framed toad, from the cage.
The little guy has been here for four months, doing nothing but eating mealworms; now, it's time to prove his worth.
"Quack!" The poor little guy uttered a soft cry, completely unaware of the fate that awaited it.
Matthew grabbed it with his right hand, took it to the common room, and came to the fireplace.
Throwing it lightly on the book.
Toad subconsciously wanted to jump away.
But Matthew's left hand has already raised his wand:
"All petrochemical!"
The whole body of the toad became stiff in an instant, and it immediately collapsed on the book and stopped moving.
As for Matthew, he sat in an armchair beside him, quietly watching everything in front of him.
……
Minutes and seconds passed.
Matthew was not impatient at all, and waited patiently.
On the way, the seventh-year Slytherin girl once returned to the common room; when she saw the toad on the round table, she immediately showed a disgusted expression, walked away and returned to her dormitory middle.
Until it was almost noon, Matthew felt that his experiment was almost done.
He raised his wand again and pointed it at the toad:
"The spell stops!"
The petrification spell has been lifted.
"Quack!" The black-framed toad let out a loud cry, and then jumped away suddenly.
It happily jumped around the Slytherin common room, its vitality and life completely unaffected.
The experiment was very successful!
Matthew looked at the toad jumping around in disbelief, and then looked at the book.
In the common room, it was as if a breeze was blowing.
With a jerk, the book opened by itself.
It is still the previous page, and the writing on it is still clearly visible:
"I have no ill intentions towards you!"
This line of green words appeared in front of him again.
Matthew took a deep breath, and a finger deep inside him, slowly, slowly, touched the page.
Nothing unusual.
Two fingers...and then a hand...
Matthew himself was still not affected in any way.
Could it be that... this book is telling the truth?
……
From the pen holder on the table, Matthew took out a quill and dipped it in ink.
Then, he wrote on the page:
"Hello!"
The black ink shone on the paper for a second, then seemed to be sucked into the paper and disappeared without a trace.
And the previous line of green writing also disappeared.
And after a few seconds, a line of dark green writing flashed on the paper again:
"Hello, Matthew!"
Matthew's expression looked a little serious.
Once again, the quill was full of ink, and then he wrote quickly:
"What do you want to do?"
Within a second ~IndoMTL.com~ he got a reply.
The book says, "I just want to help you."
Matthew couldn't help but chuckle, he tried to make his expression more serious, and then wrote on the paper:
"I don't need any help."
This time, the answers in the book seemed a bit dense:
"No, you need... I can tell you the root of all the attacks at Hogwarts... I can also tell you the true face of Grindelwald... I can even teach you the unimaginable and powerful Magic..."
Matthew tilted his mouth and was stained with ink again:
"So, what's the price?"
The previous large pile of words all disappeared, replaced by a line of dark green, very attractive small words:
"It doesn't cost anything!"
As soon as this line appeared, Matthew wrote very scribbled:
"Okay, thank you very much... When I need it, I will definitely come to you!"
Before the line of black ink disappeared, Matthew decisively closed the entire book completely.
Then, he took it back to his bedroom and put it in the drawer on his desk.
……
Clapping his hands, he walked out of the bedroom without hesitation, and then out of the common room.
I haven't eaten all morning, and my stomach is growling with hunger.
While rushing towards the auditorium, Matthew said to himself:
"Where are you lying to the ghost?"
