In fact, as early as before the Qin and Han dynasties, there was a custom of hanging peach charms during Chinese New Year. The so-called peach talisman means that the names of the legendary gods "Shencha" and "Yu Lei" are written on two peach boards and hung on the left and right doors to drive away ghosts and suppress evil. This custom lasted for more than a thousand years, and it was only in the Five Dynasties that people began to inscribe joint language on peach boards.

According to the "Song History Shu Family" records, the five generations later Shu lord Meng Chang "divided every year, ordered the scholar as a ci, inscribed the peach symbol, and placed it around the bedroom. In the last year (1964), the scholar Xing Yinxun wrote a lyrics, Chang, with his non-work, self-proclaimed the question: Happy New Year's Day, Changchun."

This is the earliest display form of couplets, and it is also the earliest spring couplet in my country.

Since the Song Dynasty, folk New Year couplets have been quite common. The sentence in Wang Anshi’s poem that "thousands of families stay on the day, always exchange new peaches for old symbols" is a true portrayal of the grand occasion at that time. Since the appearance of spring couplets is closely related to Tao Fu, the ancients called them "Peach Fu".
